The University of Texas has agreed to pay a law firm nearly $1 million to defend its undergraduate admissions program before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Latham & Watkins LLP, based in Los Angeles, will receive a flat fee of $977,000, plus up to $10,000 for expenses, for a maximum of $987,000, according to the contract between the university and the firm.
The American-Statesman obtained a copy of the contract Friday under the Texas Public Information Act from the state attorney general's office, which approved the agreement.
