21st Century Women’s Health Act Introduced Today in Senate, Advances Women’s Health and Wellbeing

The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) applauds Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) for introducing the 21st Century Women’s Health Act. This bill would advance women’s health in critical ways, including by guaranteeing coverage of women’s preventive health services without co-pays or deductibles in the Medicaid program, improving women’s access to primary health care, ensuring that survivors of sexual assault receive emergency contraception at the hospital, and informing women about the range of preventive services to which they are entitled and what to do if they aren’t getting the coverage they deserve.
