Military Missions in Action receives national community service award

Military Missions in Action, has been awarded the 2010 Edward M. Kennedy Community Service Award by the American Association for Affirmative Action.The Edward M. Kennedy Community Service Award is presented to an individual or organization demonstrating outstanding service to a community-based organization or issue. During the award presentation ceremonies, AAAA President ReNee S. Dunman stated that recipients “are to be commended for their lives in service to the disadvantaged and are distinguished role models for the next generation.”Military Missions in Action (MMIA), a N.C. non-profit organization, provides services to veterans who have suffered serious injury resulting in disability. The majority of services provided involve home modifications so that they may live safely and independently in their own homes.
