AAAA President’s Corner

President Nelson Mandela had an extremely rare story from a warrior to a peace maker for equality and social justice.  Mandela or Madiba as affectionately called by South Africans, had fire in his belly that made him a world hero before and of his time.  This iconic man changed the world in his long struggle to strike down South Africa’s former official apartheid system.  He was a 20th Century larger than life model world leader.  More than fifty world leaders attended his memorial service.

After delivering his nation from racial depression, Mandela did not seek revenge; he sought reconciliation and became the first African President of South Africa.    I am reminded of one of my favored scriptures that reads “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

There is no doubt in my mind and nor should there be in any of the minds of those who fight for equality and social justice, that Nelson Mandela was anointed to do what he did. He walked, talked, and endured by the operating system (Faith) that God downloaded in him.  He was protected by the anti-virus (Holy Spirit) that guided and directed him during and after imprisonment.    Let us continue to pray for the Mandela family and South Africa.
