Marshall Rose is correct about his comments regarding the "New Letter" from EEOC. Our fight continues.
AAAA's Marshall Rose was quoted in Inside Higher Education today (6/7) in response to the right wing's objections to employers using encouraging statements such as "women and minorities are encouraged to apply" for jobs. I support Marshall's comments and believe that the Center for Equal Opportunity is wrong again in its defense of those who have enjoyed preferences for more than 300 years. There is no evidence that white males have suffered discrimination because of these affirmation statements. Kudos to Marshall. For the story, Go to: http://insidehighered.com/news/2007/06/07/eeoc
I applaud my colleague, Marshall, also. Clearly a claim of reverse discrimination as it relates to a job posting that encourages women and minorities to apply is overreaching and undermines the efforts of affirmative action. Woman and minorities have historically not been allowed or even considered for positions especially in the field of higher education.
